A Message from the Pastor
Dear, Dear People of God,
Every so often we vacation with one of our children and their family. We returned recently from a ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where we experienced the wonders of God with our youngest, Rhoda, husband Hunter, Will - 13 and Alex - 8. The boys had prayed for snow we GOT it. Of course the snow brought snowballs, snowpeople, snow fights…so watch what you pray for. God is good. Yes indeed.
The Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, horse rides, a 10-mile floating trip on the 1,100-mile Snake River, a screaming mountain man riding straight down the mountain onto our cook-out scene, a lecture on Lewis & Clark and the 11-year-old Indian girl, all of it stealing our hearts.
One of the biggest stealers of our hearts was the moose that ran in front of our cabin called “Grizzly.” Jim was inside reading. I was at the Big House and heard loud voices telling of the moose that was loose just feet away. A mother moose who had been grazing with her cub on the ranch’s valley property below was running around frantically in search of her lost cub. I had no camera, no cell phone to call Jim, just my eyes and ears to watch and listen. The cub was stuck in a fence and soon became loose and mother moose and child ran off together to their valley home.
Someone told me that the loose cub event was sermon material. I agreed. Each of us runs loose over and over again and our God seeks us out, running us down, cleaning our wounds, setting us free from whatsoever we are caught up in. Our Great God searches us out and finds us. Our Great God loves us, each of us God’s creation. Loves you and me so much that we have God’s Son Jesus who bore it all for us. Thanks be to God.
