Annual Oktoberfest Celebration – Even though we had a rainy and windy Sunday which forced us to move everything inside, a great time was enjoyed by everyone who came to the annual Oktoberfest on Sunday, Oct. 29. There were plenty of brats, sauerkraut, potato salads and desserts to be savored for lunch. “Nostalgia” entertained with plenty of polkas and ohmpa-pa music to keep spirits up. Throughout the Educational Building were skill games with prizes and more goodies for all who played. A fun area for kids of all ages!

The results are in!  Our Pumpkin Painting Contest winners were Abby Molish, Sarah Milejczak and Lucas Schettler.  Each received a $25 gift card.  Honorable mention went to Emmet Scarazzo.  Congratulations!

In the contest for the best games, the winners were the Pumpkin Ring Toss, the Goldfish Toss and Putt-Putt Golf with the winner receiving a $25 gift card.  The various ministries of the congregation sponsored all the games at Oktoberfest.  Thanks to all who made it fun for the children!

Thank you to those who decorated, prepared food, served the food, helped clean up, sponsored a game for the kids, took pictures or shared their ability to make music.  Your efforts made Oktoberfest 2017 a festive day to share in the fun and fellowship in spite of the weather.  A special thank you to Mitzi Eberhardt who organized the event and to Cathy Beard who organized the games.

God’s Work. Our Hands Sunday – As you can see in the pictures below dozens showed up to pack snack bags for our community’s first responders. Sponsored by the ELCA, God’s Work. Our Hands Sunday is an excellent opportunity to say “Thank you” to our police, fire fighters, and emergency responders in Cumming. And not a day too soon since these first responders will most definitely be on overtime duty in the aftermath of tropical storm Irma in our area.

We want to thank all who helped and who generously donated the goodies for the bags! Together we can reach out to those beyond the walls of Christ the King to show the love of Christ among us.
