“BROKEN: 7 ‘Christian’ Rules That Every Christian Ought To Break as Often as Possible”
Author Jonathan Fisk calls them the seven ”counterfeit Christian rules that every Christian ought to break as often as possible,” because they are seven myths that have infiltrated the churches in our age, seven teachings taught as if they were doctrine, but which are nothing more than the traditions of men. Join us for this 10-week study through March 18 that will challenge us to assess our own involvement in the church and to re-evaluate what is central to our own faith commitment.

“THE GOSPEL OF JOHN”
This year during Lent at Christ the King, we will focus on the Gospel of John. Three of the Sunday gospel texts are from John as well as the passion narrative read at the Good Friday services. All of the Wednesday mid-week services will be based on a text from John. Our Bible study following the Lenten service (7:05-7:45) will use both the scripture text AND the movie, “The Gospel of John”. The powerful, epic widely acclaimed motion picture is a meticulous recreation of the turbulent era of Jesus and the events that changed the course of history! Narrated by Golden Globe nominee Christopher Plummer, it’s the bold and powerful story of Jesus as told by John. We will view and discuss how this best-loved but often misunderstood story of redemption presents a uniquely human portrait of courage and passion.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Every year at the beginning of summer Christ the King holds a week-long celebration of learning and fun at our Vacation Bible School. Each year incorporates a new theme so all who participate have fresh lessons, songs and activities. Our VBS is held in the evening hours so the whole family can participate. We start with a “kid-friendly” dinner, then have a common session of learning and singing uplifting songs before going separate classes. There is also a class for parents and other adults. Vacation Bible School week concludes with a song celebration presentation during the following Sunday worship service.
Christ the King Lutheran Church Library, located across the hall from the Church Office, exists to support the Christian Education mission of the Church and to provide resources for personal spiritual growth. Over 1250 books are held in the collection and may be borrowed for two-week periods any time. The library is open during Sunday morning worship and fellowship hours.
Volunteers are needed to perform various duties such as processing new additions, re-shelving borrowed books and keeping books in order.
