PASTOR AND STAFF
Rev. J. Patrick Finley
Senior Pastor
In 2000, Pastor Finley was ordained by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. He served as the Second Pastor of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Hendersonville, TN for almost two years before serving for a year as interim at Christ Lutheran Church in Clarksville, TN. Pastor Finley then served as pastor at St. John Lutheran Church in Rincon, GA from 2003 to 2015 before accepting the call to serve as Senior Pastor here at Christ the King in 2019.
Pastor Finley was commissioned as a Captain in the United States Air Force in 2012 as an Individual Mobilization Augmentee (Individual Reservist not attached to a Traditional Reserve Unit). As a chaplain, Pastor Finley directly supported the free exercise of religion and spiritual resiliency for countless airmen and their families at two bases in South Carolina and one in New Mexico. He was promoted to the rank of Major in February 2019 and continues to serve.
He loves Lutheran liturgy and a variety of music styles that compliment worship. He especially enjoys incorporating and developing the gifts and talents of our youth. His passion is meeting people where they are and sharing the love of God.
Kathy was born in Encino, CA and grew up in Marietta, GA. After attending The University of Cincinnati, Kathy and her husband Jim (deceased) owned and operated a number of businesses. Through all these businesses Kathy was responsible for the finances.
In 2003, Kathy became the volunteer treasurer at Christ the King. In 2007 she joined the staff as Office Administrator and is presently the Business Manager at Christ the King where she continues to work with numbers, and is dedicated to walking with this community of faith and being of service to others.
Kathy was raised Lutheran and Christ the King is only her second church home, joining in 1995. Kathy has two children, both married, and three grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with her family and her hobbies include reading and plastic canvas stitching.
Deborah was born in Oklahoma City, OK and grew up in Titusville, FL, and Alpharetta, GA. She received a Bachelor of Music Degree from University of Denver and a Master of Music Education degree from Columbus State University, Columbus, GA. Deborah has taught music at all levels for 28+ years. She has taught Christian education for children and youth for over 12 years.
Currently Deborah serves as the Christian Education and Youth Coordinator at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Deborah also teaches private flute and woodwind lessons through Ponce de Leon Music. She has served as the band director, and flute/woodwind instructor at the University level, Home School and Christian schools for over 20 years. Deborah has served as a judge for GMEA All State Auditions for over 30 years.
Deborah has two children and 3 young grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with her family and her father who lives in Alpharetta, GA. She also enjoys playing and attending instrumental concerts, working with talented young flute students, and instrumentalist of all ages. Deborah also directs the Large Group Instrumental Ensemble at Christ the King.
Dr. John (Jack) Broman
Chancel Choir Director
Dr. John “Jack” Broman was born in Chicago, IL and raised in Maquoketa, IA. All of his music degrees were earned at the University of Iowa: B.M., M.A., D.M.A. His university positions as director of choral activities have been at Dakota Wesleyan University, Loras College and since the early 1990’s at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, GA.
Jack came to Christ the King Lutheran Church as director of the Chancel Choir in January 1994. Jack is father to two married daughters, Elizabeth and Jessica, and young son, Tres. He is blessed with three young grandchildren.
Chad Watkins
Minister of Music
Chad was born and raised in Gainesville, GA. He received a degree in Music Education in 1992. Since graduation from college, Chad has spent his time teaching and creating music. He has taught elementary, middle and high school music in the public education system as well as directed various musical theater productions for multiple theater companies. In conjunction to working at Christ the King, Chad teaches at RISPA, an award winning performing arts school in Milton, GA.
An accomplished pianist, Chad serves as the Worship Leader of our 8:30 a.m. contemporary worship service and director of the Sonlight Praise Band. His other musical responsibilities at Christ the King include 11:00 a.m. worship service organist, Chancel Choir accompanist, and director of the Soli Deo Gloria handbell ringers.
Melissa Moorman

Melissa joined the team at Christ the King Preschool as the Director in 2022. She has over 20 years experience working with preschool age children in a variety of roles such as teaching and program management.
She and her husband Jonathan are originally from Tifton, GA, but have been residents of Cumming, GA since 2010. They are blessed with two young children, Chad and Mary Madison, as well as two furry children. Melissa is an avid reader, loves hiking and claims to be always planning their next family travel adventure.
