Christ the King Troop 78 is one of the most active Scout troops in the Cumming/North Georgia area. Our scout-led troop consisting of both young men and women, was founded on the beliefs that every scout deserves an opportunity to lead a group of peers in a safe environment where it is okay to fail. We encourage our scouts to step out of their comfort zone and to experience what life has to offer. Whether that is teaching a skill to the troop, leading a community event, or traveling all the way across the country for summer camp, our goal is for our scouts to learn to embrace new experiences.

We have moved forward and grown by increasing our membership, ministries, and outreach. After some growing pains, we now have over 250 registered Scouts and volunteers participating across all of our boys’ and girls’ units.

Here are some of the Troop 78 highlights from 2024:

1. Our troop members have completed 1,156 service hours across 10 different projects.
2. We have gone on over 26 outings/camp outs with some destinations that include – Skagway, Alaska; Cataloochee, North Carolina; Cades Cove, Tennessee; Camp Old Indian, South Carolina; and Summit Bechtel Reserve, West Virginia
3. We had five scouts attend World Jamboree in South Korea.
4. We have five scouts that have achieved the rank of Eagle during 2024.
5. In conjunction with the Cumming Optimist Club, we setup and take down over 150 American flags throughout the community during five different holidays each year.
6. During our popcorn fundraising we raised $5,764 in popcorn donations, some of which went to soldiers, first responders, doctors and nurses.
