SCRIP PROGRAM
Scrip is a win-win way to give to Christ the King.
In 2009 Christ the King implemented the Scrip Program of selling gift cards in which the church gets a percentage – from 1.5% to 20% – of each card sold. The money we receive from this program goes directly to our mortgage debt reduction. Over the past 12+ years, this program has contributed over $82,500 in sales profits as direct payoff on our mortgage principal. In fact, through 2021 we expect to have sold over $1.84 million in gift cards!
The Scrip table is always in the fellowship hall every Sunday from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. for the purchase of gift cards. There you will find a list of the different gift cards available in the program.
So, what is Scrip?
In simple terms, the Scrip Program is a national program through which we buy gift cards at discounted rates and sell them at face value. The profits range from 1.5% to 20% depending on what each retailer offers. The profits from our sales are used to pay additional mortgage principle, which not only reduces the balance owed, but also eliminates additional interest charges. It is a win-win for us – and for you.

It’s always the perfect time of year for everyone to participate. Buy a restaurant gift cards to take your favorite ladies to dinner for Mother’s Day, your dad for Father’s Day, celebrate an anniversary, a birthday, or just Friday night dinner. Buy a Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, or other card for your child’s favorite teacher. Buy a VISA or American Express Card for your graduating seniors. The list is endless.
The restaurants for which we sell gift cards are bought at a discount of 8% to 20%. Thus, if you buy a $25.00 card to your favorite eatery, our mortgage can be reduced by at least $2.00 and as much as $5.00 (plus interest saved). We have a wide variety of cards that make perfect gifts and can order many others.
Use them as more than gifts.
You can always use gift cards instead of cash or your credit card at the retailers you frequent the most for groceries, gas, clothing, and everyday shopping.
Church sponsored programs such as Vacation Bible School, our Family Promise host weeks, the Preschool, and other outreach programs can benefit from your gifts of grocery, Walmart, or gas gift cards.

Don’t see specific cards you need?
We can always order other cards through Scrip. Look through the national Scrip Program website (shopwithscrip.com) to see if there are other cards offered that you would want Christ the King to offer for sale. Then let the volunteers at the Scrip desk on Sunday know and we will try to get them for you.
